Apagão em meio a onda de calor deixa grande parte do Paraguai sem energia

A estatal de energia do Paraguai, a Ande, anunciou nesta quarta-feira (18) um grande apagão que afetou amplas áreas do país, incluindo a capital Assunção. Segundo a empresa, algumas linhas de transmissão importantes ficaram fora de serviço.

Em comunicado, a Ande informou que o apagão ocorreu após duas linhas que saem da Itaipu Binacional — usina hidrelétrica compartilhada com o Brasil no rio Paraná e responsável por alimentar o sistema interconectado nacional — saírem de operação.
Mais tarde, a empresa disse que uma das linhas foi energizada, iniciando a normalização da distribuição de energia em Assunção e na região metropolitana. Técnicos investigavam as possíveis causas e trabalhavam para restabelecer o serviço em todo o país.
A interrupção ocorreu durante uma onda de calor, com temperaturas acima de 40°C e sensação térmica de 43°C, segundo a Diretoria de Meteorologia. O apagão também afetou o trânsito da capital, após semáforos deixarem de funcionar.
A estatal de água potável Essap informou que o serviço pode ser impactado pela falta de energia.
