Homem é preso após atropelar pedestres em Derby, no Reino Unido; 7 ficam feridos

Um homem foi preso após atropelar pedestres na cidade de Derby, no centro do Reino Unido, na noite de sábado (28). Sete pessoas ficaram feridas.
De acordo com a polícia britânica, eles “mantém a mente aberta” sobre a motivação do crime, que ainda não foi esclarecida.
As sete pessoas sofreram ferimentos graves, mas sem risco de morrer, e foram atendidas no local antes de serem levadas ao hospital.
A polícia disse que agentes interceptaram o veículo suspeito pouco depois do ocorrido e prenderam o motorista, um homem de aproximadamente 30 anos, que permanece sob custódia.

O homem, que é da Índia, foi preso por suspeita de tentativa de homicídio, causar ferimentos graves por direção perigosa, provocar lesão corporal grave com intenção e condução perigosa.
A polícia afirmou que as investigações sobre as circunstâncias do incidente seguem em andamento.
“Embora saibamos que isso será alarmante, gostaríamos de tranquilizar as pessoas de que não acreditamos haver risco contínuo ao público”, disse a polícia em comunicado.
