As demonstrações, ocorridas no domingo (29) e registradas pelo canal estatal KRT, incluíram soldados quebrando tijolos com a cabeça e dando marteladas no abdômen de colegas.
De acordo com a KTR, os exercícios incluíram o uso de munição real. Soldados foram vistos acertando alvos com rifles.
A TV também mostrou forças especiais realizando demonstrações de artes marciais, incluindo quebra de alvos, provas de resistência e demonstrações de combate sincronizado. Tropas femininas de operações especiais também foram apresentadas, com Kim aplaudindo e incentivando as soldados.

Em declaração ao canal, Kim enfatizou a necessidade de fortalecer o treinamento de acordo com a guerra moderna e delineou planos para reorganizar as forças de operações especiais do país.
A KRT também divulgou outras duas reportagens no domingo, mostrando um teste em solo de um motor de foguete de combustível sólido e testes de um novo tanque de batalha principal.
Em um raro congresso do Partido Comunista da Coreia do Norte, realizado em fevereiro, Kim apresentou um novo plano quinquenal reafirmando o desenvolvimento contínuo de armas nucleares, ao mesmo tempo em que pediu uma ampla modernização das capacidades militares do país.
